We live in a
home by living at the same time in its emptiness, the home as a cavity, where
our only interaction occurs through our intersection with objects within that
space. Much like the human body, interior spaces act as containers to hold and
protect, and are inversely complex spaces, which define us but can seem foreign
and unfamiliar. Sensorial experience is the direct experience, with the most
intimate possessions of a space.
This work represent a longing. The space where imagination collides with the
mundane and household objects become unfamiliar territory. Domestic spaces
become metaphors for psychological states where one can camouflage themselves
in brocade. The home is given a new metaphorical meaning, being a potential
site for a complete, independent and authentic life. The home makes it possible
to create one’s own microcosm; a limited, yet legitimized freedom
