Aasta Deth is a sculptor and installation artist working out of Pittsburgh, PA. Her work involves domestic interior spaces coupled with imagery of the body, landscapes and unexpected materials.
A 2004 BFA graduate from the University at Buffalo and a 2008 MFA graduate of Sculpture and Media at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Aasta has shown extensively throughout the country and abroad, including the Smart Media Festival, the Contemporary Art Collective in Las Vegas, Nevada and University of Zagreb, Croatia. Aasta has also presented papers at academic conferences, most recently The Body as Site of Cultural (ex)Change at the Graduate Scholars Conference, Pennsylvania.
Her recent installations and commissions have been a public sculptural work for UNESCO and a public commission outdoor video projection for the city of Los Angeles. Her solo showings have included the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and Gallery 171 in Corning, NY. Her current endeavor is Ton Pottery, a ceramics teaching studio in Millvale, PA that she operates with her husband.
